Our Founder

He is partner with a national law firm in its Minneapolis office. He is a member of his firm’s Commercial Transactions Practice Group where he provides corporate representation and consultation in a broad range of situations that include legal services related to commercial real estate, equity and asset financing, mergers, governance, regulatory compliance and employment matters. Mitchel is a dedicated professional with a proven track record and ability to counsel clients and assemble and lead diverse, talented teams that achieve results-oriented solutions to complex problems.

Mitchel is a passionate and life-long learner. He is an avid reader and researcher on the Second World War and the Holocaust and believes the IHRE’s outreach and educational vision is crucial to stemming the rising tide of Holocaust denial, distortion and antisemitism. His deep commitment to this belief spearheaded the founding of IHRE to act as a catalyst for the creation of innovative outreach and educational programming focused on Gen Z and Millennials.

Mitchel was motivated by this statement from Ambassador and Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism Deborah Lipstadt: “[t]here is much poisonous nonsense in the atmosphere these days. The deniers hope to achieve their goals by winning recognition as a legitimate scholarly cadre and by planting seeds of doubt in the younger generation. Only by recognizing the threat denial poses to both the past and the future will we ultimately thwart their efforts.”

Mitchel’s professional experience and academic background are well-suited to guide the implementation of IHRE’s vision. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Minnesota, a Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law (n/k/a Mitchell Hamline College Of Law), a Post-Graduate Certificate with Distinction in Second World War Studies from the University of Birmingham (UK) and is a graduate student at Yeshiva University in its Master of Arts program in Holocaust Studies.

On a personal level, Mitchel and his wife Sue live in Minnesota and enjoy the company of their three grown children and a wide range of family and friends. Travel, music and sports round out their shared interests. Mitchel is particularly proud of all three of his children and of Sue’s success as a highly regarded doula and birth support specialist.
