The IHRE can provide a speaker who will share with your organization a family’s living testimony of the Holocaust. The IHRE is pleased to present Judi Shink, a third-generation descendant of Holocaust survivors. In fact, Judi is uniquely positioned to deliver impactful and informative testimonies about her grandparents’ survival of the Holocaust because both sets of her grandparents were Holocaust survivors. The context in which Judi delivers the testimonies is also unique. The IHRE refers to this context as “Legacy Conversations” because Judi not only shares her grandparents’ stories of survival, but there will always be an opportunity for rich conversation about Jewish life before, during and after the Holocaust, and a chance to reflect upon the lessons we learn from the Holocaust. Such reflection should enable each of us in attendance to better understand our individual responsibility and obligation (such as combatting hate and antisemitism) to ensure that nothing like the Holocaust ever happens again.

Judi Shink

Judi is the granddaughter of four Holocaust survivors. They were truly her heroes. Judi is beyond honored to act as their living testimony and share their lives with you. She is the first American born member of her family and was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She has lived in Minneapolis for 25 years. In addition to classroom teaching, she co-founded Generations After MN, a community for descendants of Holocaust Survivors.  In 2022 Judi was honored by The Pearl Society/ Minneapolis Jewish Federation as a Woman of Intention and given the World Saver Award. She has volunteered and consulted with many organizations including Children’s Hospital and Clinics, Pacer (a center for children with disabilities), Ronald McDonald House Charities, The National Council of Jewish Women, The Crisis Nursery, and The Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas.
